The California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA) has announced that Cal EPIC has joined its statewide network. Cal EPIC focuses on advancing research and development in energy and transportation technology, with an emphasis on clean mobility and workforce development.
Lance Hastings, President & CEO of CMTA, said, “Cal EPIC’s commitment to advancing manufacturing and mobility solutions makes them a strong addition to our network. Their presence further strengthens CMTA’s ability to advocate for innovation and effective workforce development across the state’s manufacturing sector.”
Orville Thomas, CEO of Cal EPIC, commented, “Cal EPIC is proud to join CMTA and be part of such a dynamic network of California innovators. Our work at the intersection of advanced manufacturing, energy, and transportation aligns closely with CMTA’s mission, and we look forward to collaborating with fellow members to strengthen the industry and bring clean tech manufacturing back to California.”
Cal EPIC operates the Ramp-Up Factory in Sacramento—a 25,000-square-foot facility that offers hands-on training, prototype development, and small-scale production. The organization runs programs for electric-vehicle technicians and other green career roles to help develop the skilled workforce needed for California’s future.
Founded in 1918, CMTA represents manufacturers by advocating for pro-growth laws before state agencies. Manufacturing contributes $300 billion annually to California’s economy—about 10 percent of the state’s total economic output—and employs approximately 1.3 million people with wages higher than those in other non-farm sectors.
Cal EPIC acts as an accelerator for clean energy and transportation technologies. As a non-profit public-private entity led by leaders in clean technology innovation, it provides access to resources supporting commercialization efforts throughout California.
