California cities announce plans for extensive pride month celebrations in 2025

California is preparing for a busy Pride Month in 2025, with events planned across the state to honor LGBTQ+ history and culture. California became the first state to officially designate June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in 2018, reflecting its long history of LGBTQ+ activism.

Sacramento will host SacPride on June 14–15 at Capitol Mall, featuring food vendors and performances by Drag Race stars such as Shea Couleé. The event includes a Pride March from Southside Park to the State Capitol, commemorating the 1969 Stonewall Riots.

Sonoma County will mark its 40th annual Pride celebration from May 30 to June 1 in Santa Rosa, themed “Forty and Fierce.” Activities include a flag-raising ceremony, drag performances, a parade, and winemaker dinners as part of Out in the Vineyard Gay Wine Weekend from July 18–20.

Napa Pride returns for its 23rd year with events throughout June. The kickoff party takes place on June 1 at Andaz Mercantile Terrace in downtown Napa.

San Francisco’s Pride festival is scheduled for June 28–29 at Civic Center Plaza under the theme “Queer Joy is Resistance.” The event features concerts, comedy acts, cabaret performances, and Sunday’s parade from the Embarcadero to City Hall. Other Bay Area events include Ribbons of Remembrance at Filoli on June 14–15; Fresh Meat Festival at Z Space from June 19–21; and Frameline49: The San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival from June 18–28.

Pacifica will celebrate on June 7 with a car parade and festival including food trucks, musical performances, local artists’ tables, and family activities. Afterparties feature DJs and bands.

Central Coast Pride spans May and June in towns like San Luis Obispo and Atascadero. The main weekend is May 30–June 1 with community-hosted events across SLO County.

Los Angeles will hold its 55th annual pride parade on June 8 along Hollywood Boulevard. West Hollywood hosts WeHo Pride from May 30 to June 1 with a street fair and OUTLOUD music festival featuring Lizzo, Lil Nas X, Honey Dijon, Paris Hilton, and Kim Petras. The WeHo Pride Arts Festival runs May 23–25 with performances by the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles and other activities.

Santa Monica’s SaMo Pride lasts all of June with events such as Pride on the Promenade on June 21. Families can attend Fabulous Fables at Santa Monica Pier or participate in the Santa Monica Pride Bar Crawl.

Catalina Island hosts Catalina Pride from June 6–7 in Avalon with live entertainment, a march to Casino Point, and rainbow lighting of Catalina Casino.

Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite occurs on June 16 and 18 at Disneyland Park in Anaheim. Guests have after-hours access to dance parties, themed entertainment, a special cavalcade featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and unique food offerings.

Fresno Rainbow Pride is set for June 7 with a family-friendly parade followed by a festival that includes live music, vendors, a beer garden, children’s play area, and more for $5 admission.

Santa Ynez Valley celebrates SYV Pride Month starting with an event in Solvang on June 14 featuring live music and family activities.

Other cities plan later celebrations: San Diego holds its main pride events July 16–20 including a two-day festival at Balboa Park; Oakland hosts its parade and Carnival & Fun Fair on September 7; Greater Palm Springs holds festivities November 6–9; Costa Mesa’s OC Pride Parade & Festival is set for September 27.

These events highlight California’s ongoing commitment to celebrating diversity within its communities through parades, festivals, art displays, concerts, film screenings, family-friendly activities and more throughout the year.
