The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is offering free language support for residents who have limited English proficiency and need help with telecommunications and energy services. The support is provided through two programs: Telecommunications Education and Assistance in Multiple-languages (TEAM) and Community Help and Awareness of Natural Gas and Electricity Services (CHANGES).

These programs work with community-based organizations across California to provide local assistance. They help residents understand their bills, resolve service issues, and access financial assistance. Some examples of groups involved include the Suscol Intertribal Council and the Asian Youth Center.

The TEAM and CHANGES programs assist customers in their preferred language. Services include helping people understand and resolve billing issues, access energy and telecommunication services, learn about consumer rights, and connect with payment assistance options.

The CPUC encourages anyone who needs help or knows someone who does to use these programs to make sure language does not prevent access to essential utility services.

For more information or to find a participating organization, individuals can email teamandchanges@cpuc.ca.gov or visit the TEAM and CHANGES website.
