Unitek College nursing students at Community Health System have received a $50,000 donation from CalViva Health. The announcement was made by CalViva Health CEO Jeffrey Nkansah during a classroom session with the students. Each student in the program received a check for $2,083 to help cover expenses related to their nursing education.

Unitek College is a for-profit school that offers vocational training in health care fields. The college partnered with Community Health System last year and currently has about 150 team members from Community participating in its nursing program.

“We truly pride ourselves on being local … and that the individuals who take care of the communities are the individuals who live in these communities,” said Nkansah.

Nkansah also stated that donations like this support CalViva Health’s mission of helping health care efforts across the region.

Daniel Davis, Division President of Hospitals at Community, said that the financial support will help students address challenges during their studies and that CalViva Health’s contribution is another way to assist them in completing their program successfully.
