The U.S. Census Bureau released on April 9 a downloadable file with estimates of the resident population in the United States, broken down by single year of age and sex as of July 1, 2025.
These estimates provide an updated look at the demographic makeup of the country, which is important for planning and policy decisions across various sectors.
According to the Census Bureau, additional data releases are planned in the coming months. These will include housing unit estimates for the nation, states, and counties; population estimates for cities and towns; as well as more detailed breakdowns by age, sex, race, and Hispanic origin at multiple geographic levels such as states and metropolitan areas. The bureau also announced that it will release similar demographic information for Puerto Rico’s Commonwealth and municipios.
There was no accompanying news release with this product; instead, a tip sheet was provided to inform users about the availability of these new data files.
The forthcoming releases are expected to offer more comprehensive insights into changing demographic trends throughout the United States.
