Edison International announced on April 8 that it has selected 30 high school seniors as the recipients of its 2026 Edison Scholars awards. Each student will receive a $50,000 scholarship to support their college education as they pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
The program aims to reduce financial barriers for students interested in STEM fields and encourages them to focus on their studies and future impact. The scholars were chosen from across Southern California Edison’s service area and represent a variety of interests within STEM disciplines.
Pedro J. Pizarro, president and CEO of Edison International, said, “The next generation of leaders is essential to driving innovation and progress, and our 2026 Edison Scholars show the passion and purpose needed to shape our clean energy future. We are proud to support their academic journeys, and I look forward to seeing how they use their talents and determination to make a meaningful impact in their communities.”
Over the past two weeks, representatives from Edison International surprised each recipient at their schools with a commemorative medal and scholarship check during presentations attended by family members, friends, educators, company team members and local communities. The new class of scholars will be honored alongside previous recipients at an upcoming reception at Edison International’s headquarters in May.
Since launching the program in 2006, Edison International has awarded more than $22 million in scholarships to over 850 students who have gone on to build careers across various STEM fields including computer science, civil engineering and environmental science. The program is fully funded by shareholders of Edison International.
