ERI, a Fresno-based electronics recycling company, has announced a new partnership with ReElement Technologies to increase the domestic production of refined rare earth oxides from recycled magnet materials.
Under the agreement, ERI will use its collection network and eight recycling centers in the United States to gather and pre-process end-of-life electronic components that contain rare earth magnets. These materials will then be sent to ReElement Technologies, which is a subsidiary of American Resources Corporation. ReElement will refine the recovered feedstock into high-purity rare earth oxides for industries such as mobility, defense, and advanced technology manufacturing.
The collaboration aims to support U.S. efforts to secure a stable supply of rare earth materials at a time when demand for these critical minerals is rising. ERI’s artificial intelligence systems are capable of identifying and extracting magnet-based metals at high purity levels, providing suitable input for ReElement’s refining process.
ReElement has already started trial shipments of rare earth oxides with 99.9% purity to commercial and defense clients from its facility in Indiana. The company is currently accepting orders.
Mark Jensen, chairman and CEO of ReElement Technologies, stated: “ERI is a trusted partner to leading U.S. technology companies and hyperscalers, and their ability to efficiently source and process recycled magnet material is unmatched. Pairing their feedstock capabilities with ReElement’s advanced refining platform positions us to accelerate true circularity for critical minerals in the United States and deliver high-purity rare earth elements for our current and expanding customer base.”
John Shegerian, ERI chairman and CEO, described the partnership as an important development that could enhance U.S. capacity in the global market for rare earth elements.
