Fashion Furniture is marking its 65th anniversary with a public celebration in Fresno. The event will take place on Friday, October 17, at the store’s location at 255 West El Paso Ave., from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. The festivities are free and open to the public, though attendees are encouraged to register.
The anniversary event will feature a red carpet entrance under searchlights, live music, a photo booth, giveaways, and raffles. Attendees will have an opportunity to win furniture prizes valued at $50,000, including items such as a recliner, California king bed, queen mattress, and dining table. Paul Loeffler of Fresno State Athletics will emcee the event. Mayor Jerry Dyer is scheduled to cut the ribbon at 5:30 p.m.
A highlight of the evening will be a 65-foot-long double chocolate cake, accompanied by two smaller cakes shaped like the numbers “6” and “5.”
Owner and general manager Ryan Beams emphasized the importance of community support over the years. “We’re really going to make this a fun thank-you event for Fresno because we wouldn’t be here without Fresno supporting us for the last 65 years,” Beams said.
Fashion Furniture was founded downtown in 1960 by the Avedikian family before moving to its current North Fresno location as the city expanded. Beams acknowledged the foundation laid by the previous owners: “It’s a daunting responsibility because they did things almost perfectly, and so our job is to continue to do that.”
Beams and his wife purchased Fashion Furniture in 2024 and inherited both an experienced team and a loyal customer base. “We have the same team essentially for the last decade,” he said.
Customer loyalty has played a significant role in sustaining the business. “Probably a third of our customers have said my first piece of furniture I bought from you was downtown,” Beams noted. “Those clients are the people who brought their kids to Fashion Furniture for the first time.”
Beams explained that this anniversary celebration is intended as a gesture of gratitude toward customers old and new as well as to recognize community support over six decades. “It’s about thanking the community of Fresno – thanking them for a great 65 years of supporting us,” he said. “We’re going to have a lot of fun.”
