The Fresno Chamber of Commerce, with over 1,000 members, stands as one of the largest chambers in California. The organization is focused on connecting businesses, providing educational programs, advocating for policies important to local enterprises, and recognizing the achievements of its members.
Dejah Magaña, membership and program coordinator at the Chamber, highlighted the importance of networking events. “Ribbon cuttings, member meetups, and mixers are some of the key ways the Fresno Chamber connects businesses with the community,” Magaña said. “Ribbon cuttings celebrate milestones like grand openings, relocations, or expansions, and give our members a chance to showcase their business to the public. Member meetups and mixers provide informal, welcoming spaces for professionals to build relationships, exchange ideas, and create meaningful partnerships.”
The Ambassador Committee helps welcome new members at these events and supports connections within the broader network. Participation in this committee allows individuals to expand their professional relationships while assisting others.
Members also benefit from marketing opportunities such as being featured in a weekly e-newsletter up to four times per year and monthly exposure on social media platforms. Each business appears in an annual Community Guide & Business Directory for sustained visibility. The Chamber’s Events Calendar keeps track of ongoing member activities.
Advocacy remains a central focus for the organization. The Government Affairs Council takes positions on legislation affecting local businesses and builds ties with policymakers. The Political Action Committee educates members about issues influencing Fresno’s business environment and endorses candidates who support business interests.
Educational offerings include programs such as Leadership Fresno—which provides seminars and community projects—San Joaquin Political Academy for future political leaders committed to economic growth, Junior Board for high school students seeking leadership experience, Young Entrepreneurs Program offering practical business lessons for teens, and Small Business University covering topics like tax law changes and cybersecurity.
The Chamber hosts five signature events each year: Valley Business Awards (which includes presenting the Leon S. Peters Award), State of the County (in collaboration with Fresno County Board of Supervisors), State of the City (in partnership with the mayor’s office), Ag Awards celebrating agricultural contributors in Fresno County, and Moe Bagunu Memorial Golf Classic which raises funds for Chamber initiatives.
Membership offers access to resources designed to help businesses grow while providing a platform for involvement in shaping regional development.
