The City of Fresno has received $4.9 million from California’s Homekey+ Program to support the revitalization of La Hacienda Mobile Estates, previously known as Trails End Mobile Home Park at 104 E. Sierra Ave. The announcement was made by the city on Thursday.
The funds will be used to create affordable and permanent housing for homeless veterans. In partnership with Self-Help Enterprise (SHE), the city plans to purchase and install 18 new manufactured homes on the site. The new units will include 12 one-bedroom and six two-bedroom homes, designated for veterans who are homeless or face mental health or substance use challenges.
Additionally, the project aims to preserve the existing mobile homes on the 5.21-acre property to prevent further displacement of current residents.
“This project is a lifeline for a community that has long been overlooked,” said Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer in a news release. “By preserving La Hacienda, we’re preventing displacement, expanding affordable housing in Fresno, and restoring stability for families and individuals who deserve the chance to prosper. With on-site services, dedicated Veteran support, and long-term affordability, this partnership is a powerful example of what we can achieve when we invest in people, not just property.”
