Fresno State’s Mobile Health Unit has resumed operations for the fall 2025 semester, offering free health services across Fresno County. The unit provides flu vaccines at most sites and other services such as diabetes and blood pressure screenings, wellness assessments, and referrals.

For a decade, the Mobile Health Unit has worked with local organizations to provide free health care resources. This fall, partnerships include Salt + Light Neighborhood Village, where graduate nursing students deliver wellness exams under supervision to residents transitioning from homelessness who may lack access to medical care. “For some, this is their only opportunity to see a health care provider,” the release states.

The unit will also participate in Community Health and Resource Fairs with Assemblymember Dr. Joaquin Arambula on October 23. Since 2017, Fresno State nursing students and faculty have joined these events to share information about health care, education, legal aid, workforce development, and immigration services with community members throughout the region.

At The Big Fresno Fair on October 6 during Seniors and Special Interest Day, flu vaccines and health screenings will be provided by the Mobile Health Unit to all fairgoers.

Other scheduled stops include the Cherry Avenue Auction every other Tuesday from October through December and monthly visits to the Fresno Flea Market at the Fresno Fairgrounds. These locations allow nursing students and faculty to reach diverse populations in southeast and south-central Fresno.

In 2024, two new state-of-the-art mobile health vehicles were introduced using funds secured by Assemblymember Arambula. The vehicles are equipped with advanced technology designed both to improve patient outcomes and enhance practical training for nursing students.

The program is coordinated by the Fresno State School of Nursing. Graduate and undergraduate nursing students provide these services under faculty supervision as part of their educational experience while addressing community needs for accessible healthcare.

Information about dates and locations for fall 2025 is available on the School of Nursing website; schedules may change based on circumstances.
