Gimme Health Foods, Inc. plans to open a seaweed food and snack manufacturing facility in Madera and expand its headquarters in San Rafael. The project is expected to create 102 jobs across both locations and involves an investment of $20 million.

The company, known for its organic seaweed snack brand Gimme Seaweed, was founded by Annie Chun and Stephen Broad. Kristina Gallagher, director of the Madera County Economic Development Corp., stated that Gimme Health Foods is currently looking for suitable sites in Madera but cannot finalize any property purchase until it receives a state tax credit.

The California Competes tax credits are awarded through the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz). The state has allocated $2.8 million in tax credits to support this initiative.

“This will create 102 jobs across both sites with $20 million in investment,” said a spokesperson from Gimme Health Foods.
