Josh Allen, quarterback for the Buffalo Bills and reigning NFL MVP, has announced a partnership with New Balance to support youth sports in his hometown of Firebaugh, California. The initiative aims to provide funding for Firebaugh’s community sports program, expanding opportunities for young athletes regardless of their financial situation.
Allen grew up in Firebaugh, a small town in Fresno County where his family operates a 3,000-acre farm. He credits his upbringing in the area for shaping his work ethic and approach to football. This week also saw the University of Wyoming, where Allen played college football, announce it would retire his jersey number.
In describing the partnership with New Balance, Allen emphasized the sense of community he felt: “My parents, the greatest role models I could ask for, built their lives on those principles and raised my siblings and me the same way. So, when New Balance asked me to come on board, it felt like coming home,” he said.
The collaboration will fund programs designed to make youth sports accessible in Firebaugh. “Firebaugh didn’t have quarterback camps or private trainers. We had heart. We had community. And I wouldn’t trade that for anything,” Allen wrote in a statement.
Allen expressed that his goal is to give current young athletes in Firebaugh similar opportunities to those he experienced growing up. “Whether you’re a kid just picking up a football for the first time or a high schooler grinding through two-a-days, we’re here for you, cheering you on from afar, from Boston, to Buffalo, to Firebaugh,” he said.
He added that this initiative is intended as a way of giving back: Allen said the New Balance initiative is his way of giving back to the community that raised him.
