Nevada reported 67,000 job openings in July 2025, an increase from 62,000 openings in June, according to data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Chris Rosenlund, Regional Commissioner for the agency, stated that “the job openings rate in Nevada was 4.1 percent in July and 3.8 percent in the previous month.” Nationally, the job openings rate was slightly higher at 4.3 percent in July and 4.4 percent in June.
The ratio of unemployed persons per job opening in Nevada stood at 1.3 for July. In comparison across the United States, thirty-two states and the District of Columbia had lower ratios than the national average of 1.0 unemployed persons per job opening; thirteen states reported higher ratios and five matched the national measure.
In terms of labor movement, Nevada saw 58,000 hires and 62,000 separations during July, down from June’s figures of 65,000 hires and 64,000 separations. Over the past year ending in July, both hires and separations averaged about 62,000 per month.
Of those separating from employment in July within Nevada, there were 35,000 quits—consistent with June—and layoffs and discharges totaled 24,000 compared to June’s figure of 26,000. On average over the year quits numbered about 36,000 monthly while layoffs and discharges averaged around 22,000 each month.
These statistics are derived from the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS), which provides insights into labor demand and workforce movement using a model-based approach that combines JOLTS sample data with other federal employment estimates.
The next set of state-level JOLTS estimates is scheduled for release on October 22, 2025.
