Peloton has announced a recall of nearly 878,000 of its exercise bikes in the United States and Canada due to safety concerns over the seat posts. The recall applies to certain “Peloton Original Series Bike+” units with model number PL02. According to notices from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, there have been three reports in the U.S. of seat posts breaking during use, leading to two fall injuries. No incidents have been reported in Canada.
Consumers who own these bikes are advised by both safety agencies and Peloton to stop using them immediately and contact Peloton for a free replacement seat post.
“The integrity of our products and our Members’ well-being are our top priorities,” a Peloton spokesperson said in an emailed statement. The company also stated that redesigned seat post replacements would be made “available to all affected Bike+ users.”
Information on how to determine if a bike is included in the recall and instructions for installing the new seat post can be found on Peloton’s website.
The recalled bikes were sold between 2020 and April 2025 at Peloton stores, Dick’s Sporting Goods locations, and through online retailers such as Amazon and eBay, with a retail price around $2,495. The affected Bike+ units have serial numbers starting with “T.” Approximately 833,000 units were sold in the U.S., while about 44,800 were distributed in Canada.
In 2023, Peloton previously recalled 2 million original Bikes (model number PL01) after receiving more frequent reports of similar seat post issues that resulted in injuries.
