Alejandro “Alex” Vallejo has been appointed as Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer of PG&E Corporation and its subsidiary, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, effective September 30. Vallejo brings 15 years of experience at PG&E to the role.

In his new position, Vallejo will lead PG&E’s People organization, overseeing efforts related to talent acquisition, labor relations, coworker development, and change management. The organization aims to maintain a workforce that supports a safe and resilient energy system for customers.

PG&E Corporation CEO Patti Poppe commented on Vallejo’s appointment: “Alex has been one of the most empathetic and trustworthy leaders I’ve had the pleasure of working with. He understands and models the culture we are working to build at PG&E—focused on safety, leading with love and causing joy for our coworkers and customers. I look forward to his leadership in developing our team to bring this culture to life every day.”

Vallejo takes over from Kaled Awada, who announced his departure earlier this month. Previously, Vallejo served as PG&E’s Chief Risk Officer and Senior Vice President of Ethics & Compliance. In these roles, he managed risk assessment across operations and public safety while also overseeing ethics, compliance functions, privacy programs, federal compliance matters, records management, and information governance. He has held other leadership positions within legal affairs and customer teams.

“In my 15 years at PG&E, I have come to know, love and deeply admire my coworkers, from our hometown service centers to our Oakland headquarters. I’m honored to continue fostering our culture, where it is enjoyable to work with and for PG&E and where we’re delivering for our customers to meet the dynamic and critical energy needs of California,” said Vallejo.

Before joining PG&E, Vallejo was a litigator at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP focusing on commercial cases and regulatory issues. He holds a law degree from Harvard Law School as well as an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Riverside.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company serves more than sixteen million people across Northern and Central California through its combined natural gas and electric utility services. More information can be found at https://www.pge.com/, https://www.pge.com/news/, or https://www.pge.com/innovation/.
