The Small Farm Tech Expo is scheduled to take place on December 2 at UC Merced. The event is organized by Community Alliance with Family Farmers (CAFF) and supported by F3 Local through the F3 Initiative. It aims to provide small-scale farmers, ranchers, researchers, and community organizers with practical demonstrations and workshops focused on technology solutions designed specifically for smaller agricultural operations.
According to the organizers, “Too often, ag technology is built for large-scale operations, making it inaccessible to the majority of California’s family farms. The Small Farm Tech Expo aims to change that narrative by highlighting innovations that respect scale, budget and sustainability.”
The expo will feature live demonstrations of equipment suited for small farms, open-source digital tools that can be used immediately, low-cost mechanization strategies for small acreage, and interactive workshops involving farmers, developers, and researchers. Attendees will also have opportunities to network with peers and community partners.
Organizers encourage participation from a range of stakeholders including small and mid-scale farmers and ranchers, community food organizers, AgTech developers, university researchers and students, as well as anyone interested in supporting local agriculture.
Registration for the event is free but space is limited. Additional information about the expo can be found at caff.org/tech-expo/.
