Snap Inc. has announced that its Imagine Lens, an Open Prompt Image Generation feature previously available only to Lens+ and Snapchat Platinum subscribers, is now accessible to all Snapchat users in the United States without a subscription. The company is also starting to roll out the feature in Canada, Great Britain, and Australia.

The Imagine Lens allows users to generate images by typing prompts into the Snapchat camera. According to Snap Inc., more than 8 billion Lenses are used daily on the platform for various forms of self-expression and creativity.

“With the Imagine Lens, your creativity is the only limit. Just type in your idea, watch it come to life, and share your creation with friends, your Story, or even beyond Snapchat,” a spokesperson for Snap Inc. said.

To encourage experimentation with this new tool, Snap Inc. is offering users a limited number of free image generations.

“We love how AI unlocks amazing creativity—so keep it fun, stay transparent, and share responsibly when you use or post AI-edited or generated content,” said the company in its announcement.

The expansion of Imagine Lens reflects Snap Inc.’s ongoing investment in artificial intelligence features for creative expression on its platform.
