Since the launch of Memories in 2016, Snapchat users have saved over one trillion Memories. The company states that unlike a typical camera roll, which often contains duplicates and screenshots, Snapchat’s Memories feature is used to save moments that are meaningful to its users.

Snap Inc. announced new Memories Storage Plans aimed at supporting users who have more than 5GB of saved content. According to the company, “When we first launched Memories, we never expected it to grow to what it has become today. We want to make sure that our community can continue to store all of their Memories over the long term, so we are introducing new Memories Storage Plans to support Snapchatters with more than 5GB of Memories.”

For most users—those with less than 5GB of stored content—there will be no changes. For those exceeding this limit, Snap Inc. is introducing options for additional storage: an introductory plan offering 100GB, a 250GB option available through Snapchat+, and a 5TB tier called Snapchat Platinum.

The company also stated: “We’ll provide 12 months of temporary Memories storage for any Memories that exceed the 5GB storage limit. Snapchatters can upgrade to a Memories Storage Plan at any time, and as always, will be able to download their Memories directly to their devices.”
