Snapchat has reported that its monthly active user base in India has surpassed 250 million, marking a notable increase for the platform in the country. The company attributes this growth to its focus on engaging younger audiences and expanding its presence through culturally relevant content, partnerships, and support for regional creators.

Snapchat’s approach in India includes initiatives such as local content development and features like Spotlight and Stories that encourage participation from Indian creators. The company states it is aiming to build a sustainable business by nurturing its user community, strengthening relationships with advertisers, supporting storytelling features, and promoting an augmented reality (AR) developer ecosystem.

“Snapchat announced its community in India has surged to over 250 million monthly active users (MAU),1 marking a significant milestone. This growth highlights Snapchat’s strong connection with young users nationwide, making India a leading global growth market for the platform.”

“The India digital opportunity is massive, and Snapchat India is strategically poised to capitalise on this growing opportunity by bringing culturally relevant experiences to Indian audiences through local content initiatives, partnerships, and maintaining a dedicated focus on regional creators through Spotlight and Stories.”

“Looking ahead, Snap’s vision in India is to build a sustainable business by growing and nurturing its community, strengthening trust with advertisers by delivering business value, supporting vibrant storytelling via Spotlight and Stories, and fostering a thriving AR developer ecosystem.”

The announcement positions India as one of Snapchat’s most important markets globally.
