Southwest Airlines has begun operating twice daily flights between Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) and San Diego International Airport (SAN). The service, which was initially announced in February, departs from Fresno at 6:30 a.m. and 3:55 p.m.

San Diego is now the fourth city served by Southwest Airlines from FAT. The airline also offers daily nonstop flights to Las Vegas and Denver, as well as seasonal service to Dallas Love Field. Southwest began its operations at FAT in April 2021.

With this new route, travelers between Fresno and San Diego now have two airline options, as Alaska Airlines also serves the same route.

Interim Director of Aviation Francisco Partida commented on the expansion: “Southwest Airlines’ continues to grow its presence at Fresno Yosemite International Airport by adding popular destinations to meet the increasing air travel needs of California’s Central Valley. The addition of San Diego service operated by Southwest Airlines expands convenient access between the Central Valley and sunny Southern California and is timely with planning upcoming holiday travels.”
